Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way! I've been a mentor for the past two years for other FEAST participants and that's been really exciting. I'm looking forward to this year!" -Kris Newlin

2017: LaQuincey Reed - Freed and Western

Reed's winnings from FEAST led to the Creation of bronze sculptures in project exploring the similarities in attitudes, culture and entrepreneurship of African-Americans in "Western" culture and urban African-American culture.

"A good portion of my sculptures involve the contributions of Black community to the West. Bronze sculpture is a very involved and expensive medium to work with. Through Paseo FEAST, I was able to use the funds to help with the costs associated with casting a bronze sculpture. Very soon after my sculpture in Southwest Art Magazine as an artist to watch. I was contacted because of that feature to be included in the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale in Cody, WY with nationally known western artists and I’ve been in the show since 2018. I truly believe that Paseo FEAST helped launch my career and open me to other opportunities and connections. Every year I encourage other artists to apply because the event is so valuable to me." -LaQuincey Reed
