Each March, the Paseo Arts Association hosts an all-medium visual exhibit centered around a different theme in Gallery II at the Paseo Arts & Creativity Center, located at 3024 Paseo in the Paseo Arts District. This year’s theme was Resilience, and the exhibition is juried by Helen Opper, a fine art appraiser, advisor, curator and educator based in Oklahoma City. The show will feature artwork by 45 different artists, and visitors will be able to learn more through artwork statements on display alongside each work. Come enjoy the artwork and each artist’s interpretation of the theme Resilience, March 7 through March 29. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11a-5p and Saturdays, 12-5p at 3024 Paseo.
Helen Opper will also be talking more about her practice and the process of selecting the artworks in this year’s show at a special jurors talk (date to be determined) while the exhibition is on display. Artists who are in the show are encouraged to attend and the juror talk is open to the public for free, with light refreshments provided! This is a great time to meet the exhibiting artists and an opportunity for creative networking. We hope you join us!
About the juror:
Helen Opper is a fine art appraiser, advisor, curator and educator based in Oklahoma City. Opper studied art history at UC Berkeley and earned her MA in Museum Studies from New York University. Opper owns Opper Fine Art, Oklahoma’s only woman-owned appraisal firm accredited specifically in postwar, contemporary, and emerging art. In addition, she has served as an adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College since 2017, directed local gallery The Art Hall since 2016, and been heavily involved in senior leadership for Sunny Dayz Mural Fest and the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City. Opper’s area of specialization is in modern and contemporary art with a focus on activist, feminist, and collective art practice, public art and murals, and American and European avant-gardism. In her professional roles, her goals are to work with underrepresented artists; help close the knowledge gap surrounding the business of fine art; educate about the importance of professional appraisals for artist and client advocacy; and create an inclusive framework within which her students are exposed to artistic diversity.
