Art in Bloom: March at the Gallery

By Juliana Trillo, Spring 2025 PAA Intern

By Zachary Lee, Gallery III

As the temperatures slowly get warmer, celebrate the approaching spring season by visiting the Paseo Arts and Creativity Center! We are proud to be exhibiting three incredible collections this March. We will be featuring the photography of Zachary Lee, the highlights of Sam Echols’ paintings, and our annual March Show featuring the work of 45 unique artists!

All three exhibitions will open on March 7th following the First Friday Gallery Walk and will close on March 29th, 2025.

Gallery I: Over the Years - Sam Echols

Untitled by Sam Echols

Once Home by Sam Echols

Our first gallery presents a pleasant retrospective on the work of Sam Echols.

Echols began his painting career in Oklahoma City and travelled from there to continue developing his craft in Massachusetts and New York. After returning to Oklahoma in the 1990’s, he proceeded to create soft and rich works by utilizing loose brushstrokes and faint, warm representations of light. This exhibition boasts the highlights of Sam Echols’ career from his cozy landscapes to his infamous portraits of varying residents within the Paseo Arts District.

Gallery II: The March Show: Resilience

Reflections by Madison-Moody Torres, Gallery II

The Paseo Arts Association holds The March Show annually. It’s a juried exhibition open to every visual medium that centers around a new theme each year. For 2025, the theme is “Resilience”. Every artwork featured in the exhibition speaks to the lived experience that each artist had with resilience and their choice in representing it. With 45 distinctive works, The March Show has a huge scope of subjects, mediums, and sizes of artworks for you to see! From sculpture to photography to portraiture, our third Gallery resonates with audiences by reflecting the meaningful resilience built by the diverse communities of Oklahoma.

The show is to be juried by Helen Opper, a renowned fine art appraiser with a passion for spotlighting underrepresented artists and broader inclusivity in the fine art business. She owns the Opper Fine Art appraisal firm and engages with the Oklahoma City community through organizations and working with the Oklahoma City Community College.

Gallery III: Zachary Lee Photography Exhibition

Zachary Lee’s Photography Exhibition invites its visitors to experience the dreamlike dynamism portrayed by the imaginative lighting and posing of his subjects. The works are in a beautiful mix of stillness and movement, as Lee champions his ability to “freeze” active moments that speak to the human experience. Resembling the gorgeous and  otherworldly feel of Surrealist artists like Moreau and Magritte, his subjects are ethereal in their frozen state, creating a sense of mystique and elegance that surrounds the pictured individuals.
