“Out here there’s the sky.”

Terry M. Clark grew up in New Mexico and has lived most of his life on the Great Plains and in Oklahoma, the land of far horizons, vast skies and brilliant light. To him, the sky is alive—fluid in an arid land, a source of ever-changing color and weather and life. He believes transparent watercolor and brilliant acrylics are ideal for landscapes capturing the dynamic, challenging nature of our skies, determining the shapes and colors and moods of the prairies, mountains, deserts and mesas, and their inhabitants. A member artist of In Your Eye Studio and Gallery in Paseo, he has exhibited and sold paintings in Santa Fe, Texas, and Oklahoma. A retired journalism professor at the University of Central Oklahoma, his experience in journalism and photography influences his work.  He teaches watercolor classes, professional writing for businesses, accepts commissions, and maintains an award-winning blog: Coffee with Clark. He has studied painting with Cletus Smith and Connie Seaborne of Oklahoma City, and with nationally recognized artists Don Nice, Frank Francese, Ron Ranson, Don Andrews, Tom Lynch and G. Russell Case.

After earning a B.A. in Pharmacy at The University of Oklahoma and working many years as a pharmacist and domestic goddess, she is going back to her creative roots. She is excited to now offer her work to the public and be a part of the Paseo Arts & Creativity Center community. Her primary focus is with acrylic, glass and resin. When Amy was eight years old in her first painting class, the instructor didn’t like the way she was painting the feathers on a rooster’s tail. The instructor took the brush and showed her the proper way to paint the feathers. After the instructor walked away, Amy painted over the instructor’s idea of tail feathers, restoring her creative interpretation of rooster tail feathers.

Over the nearly 50 years since she painted feathers her way, Amy has explored many art mediums, including oil pastels, collage, and mixed media. She has been sewing since she was 10 years old and these days she mainly focuses on modern art quilting and modern primitive stuffed toys.
