B.B and O.J’s Great Adventure is a collection of immersive printmaking by artist Wesley Kramer. Kramer is using his art to tell a story exploring environmental themes. By learning about the world inhabited by the characters, we can get a better understanding of our own world. See more of Wesley’s work here: instagram.com/weszakk
“In these narratives, I have created a series of characters that exist in their own reality, where I build up the environment that they thrive in to show the changes in how they progress. By filling this world with humor, whimsical environments, and chunky creatures, I entice the viewer to participate in my world in a physical and emotional one too. As these stories progress, I expand the world visually by showing how my character's actions can impact the people and environment they live in. While showing these characters' interactions with one another in my prints, I ask the viewer to reflect, thinking about how our own actions affect the world around us. My current body of work involves an interactive comic book, where the viewer can be a part of the story. With small pieces that you can pull, spin, and examine. The viewer is brought into my world to interact with objects to see how our actions impact our environment. Once the viewer reaches the end of the story they are left with a choice of how they would solve the issue. Completing the story… for now. The installation involves several large prints that correlate with the interactive comic book. Along with this are ceramic-made characters from the prints that I have developed.”
