Catherine Chapman is an artist from Noble, OK – she creates pen and ink, watercolor and acrylic portraits that focus on the diversity and beauty of people and cultures, capturing the emotions and feelings of the subjects.
“I have spent several years studying and creating art though only began to refocus on and prioritize this passion within the last 7 years. My main medium is pen and ink though I also have experience with acrylic and watercolor paints as well as fluid acrylics. My objective when I create a pen and ink piece is to try and capture the emotions and feelings of the subject(s) while simplifying the image and reducing the noise that is usually seen in traditional photographs.”
“My goal when choosing a subject is to focus on the diversity of humanity and the beauty that can be found within all people and cultures. The process to create these ink paintings can be quite time consuming to get the level of detail involved but I enjoy seeing them go from one step to the next. Most of these paintings are black and white, but I am beginning to experiment with adding some accent colors to create more visual excitement to them.”
