Curious Creations at the PACC

Join us this October at the Paseo Arts and Creativity Center to view the work of Mark Brudzinski and Stephanie Brudzinski in Soul Object: Recycled | Reused | Reshared. We will also be showcasing colorful pieces made by members of the Oklahoma Pastel Society, as well as art made by our Upstairs Studio Artists. You won’t want to miss this! All exhibits will be on display from October 6 through 28, 2023 with opening receptions on First Friday Gallery Walk on October 6 from 6-9pm.

Gallery I will show the work of assemblage/collage artists, Mark Brudzinski and Stephanie Brudzinski, who explore what lingers within found objects and recycles them into new energy that they pass along to be reshared. Stephanie creates her works with fragments of paper and recycled imagery collected from her daily life and wanderings. She is inspired by the tranquility of the Asian culture and its often-overlooked backgrounds, colors, textures, shapes, and negative spaces. Mark is a self-taught artist whose pieces demonstrate a unique and personalized style of construction and depth of vision. Perception of meaning changes with focus. Closer inspection reveals the intricacy in detail often missed or misinterpreted when viewed grossly, defying the varied levels of process in each piece. He believes the viewer should interpret his art and find their own meaning in each piece.

The Oklahoma Pastel Society was founded in 2003 by a group of artists from the OKC metro area. This group was created to offer a venue for shows and to provide workshops for other local pastel artists. The goal of the Oklahoma Pastel Society is “to promote the study and practice of pastel art, to encourage individual excellence, and to foster a wider appreciation and deeper understanding of pastel, its history and applications, by the free interchange of ideas and techniques.” In Gallery II, we will showcase the work of the Oklahoma Pastel Society. So come on by and view the work for yourself! If you are interested in pastels, consider joining the Oklahoma Pastel Society using the link provided: https://www.okpastel.org/page/36435/join-ops

Gallery III will feature artwork by Paseo Arts Association Studio Artists Debbie Flynn, Amy Jo Garner, and Mary Grabow. Flynn paints work that primarily features animals of all kinds. Garner creates quilts and embroidery of bright and colorful patterns and florals. Grabow’s work focuses on landscape scenes of the mid and southwest regions, including scenic churches and figurative portraits.

So be sure to stop by the Paseo Arts and Creativity Center located at 3024 Paseo this October to view the colorful works showing this month! The exhibition will be on view from October 6 though 28, 2023.
